I would like to take this opportunity to
introduce you to Professional Tuition, a school
for all children and adult students which has
recently opened in King Street, Rockdale.
Professional Tuition is keen to assist and
work with children and adults with disabilities
and we are excited to offer the students and
staff of all institutions the opportunity to
enrol in a range of specialist and general
classes for students and their carers/staff.
Over the Christmas holiday period,
Professional Tuition will be running art classes
for children of all ages as well as story
telling sessions for younger children. We would
like to ensure that all children, no matter what
disadvantage they carry are able to access these
classes and we invite them with their carers to
attend.
For four weeks in January, Professional
Tuition will also be holding lectures and
workshops led by Dr Rodd Rothwell, former senior
lecturer of Rehabilitation Counselling and
former Head of School of Community Health,
Faculty of Health Sciences University of Sydney.
These sessions will be looking at the philosophy
of rehabilitation including the history of its
development and current approaches for services
with people with disability. This will include
ideas about independent living, the social model
of disability and views from disability
international.
These classes will run on Tuesday evenings
from 6.30pm to 7.30pm on the 8th., 15th., 22nd.,
and 29th.,of January. Certificates of attendance
will be offered to all upon completion of the
course.
The school is on the second floor of King’s
Court, King Street, Rockdale but access is by a
lift from the small ramp in King Street. Parking
is available for the whole day on the top
parking area above Target and wheelchairs can be
admitted from that area through the door into
the second floor (contact has to be arranged
with us first).
There is a disadvantage toilet. A rest area
with water is available on that floor suitable
for visitors or food preparations.
